Aussie Newspapers Buck the Downward Trend

According to Roy Morgan Research, Australian newspapers are still going strong after the Metropolitan publications saw their readerships grow over the April – June quarter.
Of those publications surveyed, 19 of the 33 saw increased readership. While the remaining 14 said they were not disappointed with their Winter falls in light of petrol price increases and the strong Australian Dollar.
Interestingly, this trend has coincided with a fall in online readership as well as print circulation over the June Quarter.
The Age has been one of the best performing papers in the country, enjoying a 1% rise in readership. Fairfax is reportedly very pleased.
But they will have to make some changes, given that the total sales of newspapers has fallen by about 20, 000 copies a week.
