E-Trade Financial Corporation, an industry leader in financial and stock transactions is providing account holders with an application that will give them the ability to trade on their BlackBerry and get real-time stock quotes.
E-Trade has become the first major U.S. online brokerage firm to provide a mobile application which allows for cash transfers and real-time trading. The application, E-Trade Mobile Pro, will mean that users don't have to use the website through their phone but are linked straight to the trading system. Users will be able to trade stocks and options, set up portfolios and watch lists all without neding to maintain a general internet connection.
The application is password-protected. If inactivity continues for more than 5 minutes, the BlackBerry will ask for the password to be re-entered. E-Trade has also made a guarantee to consumers that it will cover the costs of any lossess they are subjected to by loss or theft.
E-Trade went with the BlackBerry for its first application because the demographics match up. BlackBerry's are the most used smart phones by E-Trade's consumer base
The software became available last friday Australian time but is not yet compatible with the ASX. E-Trade is expecting to negotiate conditions with ASX in the coming weeks and a similar software product could be avilable here in Australia by the end of the year.
