Californian Solar Power: A Model for Australia

It has emerged that Californian investors will embark on a major mission to guarantee solar power is a viable alternative in the State. Solar power plants are at last beginning to rival conventional plants in terms of peak power production.
Two new installations are currently being planned which could produce up to 800 mega watts of power, the rival of a small Nuclear plant. New reports by the NYT have suggested that these new power plants in the Californian desert could be as many as 8 times more efficient than their former counter-parts of yester-year.
But be warned…Solar has a ways to go. At peak times during the day it can easily rival Nuclear and Coal electricity production, but it can’t operate at night and is less efficient in the mornings and evenings.
