MIT and their rice grain batteries
April 10th 2006 12:51
The world is miniaturizing every second, with the latest developments in battery technology. MIT researchers recently worked on a special type of virus through gene manipulation to create 'nanowire' size strands of lithium-ion batteries. These batteries can be the size of a rice grain, and a number of these can, one day, be used to power a laptop, electric cars, washing machines, household equipments, and more --> all through replicated strands of nanowires.
Imagine using numerous "rice-grain" sized batteries that make up the size of a regular laptop battery.....hours ahead in terms of battery life span.
