Podcasting Hits Record High

A study by the Pew Institute has revealed that downloads of Podcasts have grown by more than 50% in the past 12 months.
Podcasting, the Internet’s answer to the humble and now obsolete VCR, has taken over 19% of Internet users into its net with 22% of men enjoying the time lapse luxury.
The trend seems to be spanning the generations with the over-50 age group saying they are significantly more likely to download podcasts this year.
The availability of podcasts has increased to match demand. The directory “Podcast Alley” increased its resource library by almost 20,000 last year, with technology podcasts leading the way. The iTunes revolution could account for much of the trend.
Researchers, teachers and students are also making the most of podcasting, with many classes in the US now being made available in podcast form for playback. Students are even being given the task of podcasting tutorials by lecturers who are not so tech-savvy.
