PS3 to put a hole in gamer's pocket?
April 6th 2006 08:28
With Xbox 360 already creating waves with its next generation graphics and incredible specs, PS3's delay is creating extreme suspense and hype amongst the gaming community.
In an interview given by George Fornay, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Vice President, he mentioned that the console would cost around US$ 600 or more, blowing a huge hole in the potential buyer's pocket.
Xbox has been selling at around US$400 and it's hard to assume whether loyal Sony consumers will be willing to cash in an extra $200 to get their hands on the much hyped PS3.
Probably the reason behing such a price is the cost of production of making the console units, and the format war associated with standardizing the new Blu-Ray format.
We'll just have to wait and see what PS3 has to offer with its boastful price.
