Sony has planned to drop its PlayStation 2 (PS2) price down to USD$ 129 from its previous USD$149 in an attempt to boost sales before it launches the much awaited PlayStation 3 (PS3) in November. PS2's blockbuster sales have been at a record throughout its life time (and still continue, with Xbox 360 not weakening PS2's dominance on a large scale). The games have been the system's greatest stronghold.

Over 101 million units have been sold worldwide since its launch in March 2000, and PS3 is expected to make a breakthrough not only with its ground breaking graphics and support for High(est) Definition picture clarity and sound, but with its new format Blu-Ray that aims to define gaming.

Is it really being released in November in the US? I heard there were delays till 2007.

World Buildings

Sony's is still unsure about the release date - they've initially been trying to release it by the end of this year or early next year. However, they're planning to run the Chip Tests next week I hear. Hopefully that shold speed things up (keeping quality in mind).

Hmmm it's all a bit suss! They previewed the thing last year at E3 and they are still tweaking with it. But the games for the 360 right now are pretty lame. No, justification to spend that much especially when i am a poor uni student.

The last time I heard it was set for release (globally) around November this year.

Sony better get their act together since Xbox360 is already on the rails around the world. By the time the PS3 is released, Microsoft would of bound to have cut the price of their console (the 360) to mark it under the PS3's release price.
