The Commanding Text Browser

This week Mozilla Labs will be launching a text based search function on their Firefox Web browser. The new “Ubiquity” tool will not only let you search the net, but will allow users to perform functions within the browser by typing text commands.
Chris Beard, vice president and general manager of Mozilla Labs says “You just type in things that feel natural to you.” The hope being that information on the web will become easier to share by avoiding copy and paste functions of old.
A similar plugin called Inky has been around for some time, but Mozilla says this new text function is vastly superior. Unlike an external plugin, Ubiquity runs seamlessly on the Firefox browser with minimum lag times.
